Israel cannot host the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2025, according to the European Gymnastics Association’s official channels.
Due to the prevailing situation in the region, the European Gymnastics Executive Committee has decided to relocate the 2025 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships to a different host country. The event was originally planned to take place in Tel Aviv, but organizers will now assess other nations to stage the competition. Applications to host the championships must be submitted by April 23, and European Gymnastics will once again evaluate all candidate countries before finalizing the hosting decision.
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) set out new guidelines on November 10 regarding the admission of Russian athletes to international events. Under the updated policy, gymnasts wishing to compete under FIG auspices will need to submit a paid application to the federation. A decision on acceptance will be rendered within 30 days of the submission, according to FIG statements.
In addition, athletes from Russia are expected to avoid any association with Russia’s security forces and should refrain from expressing public support for military actions. If the application is approved, Russian competitors would also be prohibited from displaying national symbols or characteristics while participating in events.
Earlier remarks from Tarasova raised questions about which Russian athletes should travel to the Olympic Games. The evolving rules and considerations surrounding eligibility for Russian competitors continue to shape how international gymnastics events are organized and who may participate.
