Elche CF coach Sebastián Beccacece appeared visibly happy after the cup tie, pleased with the team’s victory, the way players who don’t usually take the field performed, and their readiness when called upon. The result kept the side in a good position in Europe and reinforced the impression that the squad has depth and backbone when needed.
“It was a difficult match in a complex and hostile setting. These moments take me back to where I started. The team made a great effort, the players showed character, rebelliousness and personality, and that is very important,” Beccacece commented after the match.
The Argentinian coach also emphasized the unity of the squad: “The players talked about the field and the match. It makes me proud to know I have players who display their training level when their turn comes, who can endure negative moments and fight under pressure. We overcome the unpredictable and everyone who leaves on the pitch gives their all.”
The coach noted the unfortunate injuries to Diego González and Álex Martín, which forced changes: “It’s a shame and we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see what they have after tests.”
Beccacece also expressed enthusiasm about advancing in the knockout rounds of the cup. “We understand the expectations that come with the cup. We have taken a step forward, and we will wait with great anticipation to learn who we will face in the next round, in the seventh draw.”
When asked whether his team had reached its best moments of the season after remaining undefeated in four matches in the Hypermotion League and earning ten points from twelve, Beccacece stayed humble. “This is a daily process. We face challenges and move forward with humility and determination.”
In a final note, the Franjiverde coach thanked the fans who gathered at Nou Sardenya in Barcelona and the nearly thousand supporters who are expected at Carlos Belmonte in Albacete next Saturday for the cup clash against the La Mancha side. “I hope the fans keep backing us. We have players who are committed to the cause and they show it every time they step on the field.”
