Next Saturday, January 13 at 19:30, EON Horneo Alicante will receive an award: BM Zamora Enamora is labeled the current weakest player from the Honors Division. The ceremony will take place at the Felicísimo Ruiz Pavilion, which has not hosted the Alicante handball club’s first team meeting. This follows their December 16 victory against Fundación Agustinos de Alicante with a score of 23-26.

According to Fernando Latorre, the Christmas break has been unusually long, spanning almost a month. Players and staff need rest after a demanding period, with the coach noting that the squad has battled physical issues and mental fatigue.

In the weeks without competitive play, the focus shifts to analysis and individual player details because there isn’t a weekly rhythm to rely on, Latorre explains. He emphasizes how breaks create space to study performance and refine plans while preparing for a smoother return to action.

The team resumed training yesterday and will continue preparations until tomorrow. For now, sessions are focused on light contact, reintroducing attacking and defensive systems. It’s important to reacquaint themselves with these elements since breaking routine after a pause typically comes with a cost, the Alicante coach notes. He adds that establishing a competitive rhythm now requires far less time than during the preseason because there are fewer interruptions.
