Elche Swimming Section Excels at Regional Meet, Sets Records and Qualifies for Spanish Championship

The swimming section of the Elche Tennis Club confirmed last Saturday that Castellon remains the standout judge of long-distance events within the Valencian Community. The Elche-based team claimed the regional champion title for the third year in a row, underscoring a season of consistent excellence across multiple disciplines.

Across the program, the Elche squad accumulated six medals: one gold, three silver, and two bronze. They also set four regional age records, demonstrating depth across age groups and events. In the overall standings of the season’s opening tournament, CT Elche led the points tally, signaling strong momentum as they qualify for the Spanish Championship scheduled for January.

In the girls’ category, the French swimmer secured victory and set a regional record at age 14. Her partner, Olivia Guillermo, finished second, setting a 13-year record. Carmen Villodo placed fourth, and Edurne Tacuri is continuing to push personal bests, especially in the ninth event where she improved all her prior marks.

In the baby girl division, Rodrigo Gomariz earned second place and set a 13-year record, while Viktor Nikolov finished fifth. Pablo Palazone also posted personal bests, marking a productive meet for the younger contenders.

Among the junior-1 female group, Sara Martínez finished fourth while achieving a personal best time. In junior-1 men’s, Gerard Bayarri won the silver medal with a 16-year regional record. Dani Calavia claimed bronze and Jorge Navarro finished fourth, highlighting a competitive lineup across the age bands.

In junior-2 men’s events, Emilio López secured bronze and Ignatius French finished in fifth. The senior category saw Robert Oliver finish in fourth place, showing solid performance throughout the squad.
