Elche CF wraps up training camp after a tight friendly spell against Ibiza

Elche CF concluded a rigorous training camp held at La Finca Golf Resort in Vega Baja, following a 0-1 defeat to Ibiza. The squad moved through a demanding schedule in the Baja region, focusing on rebuilding rhythm and sharpening tactical ideas ahead of the new season.

The Franjiverdes gathered last Tuesday, July 26, and packed the week with double-session days that mixed field work with intense physical and tactical drills. Training split between mornings and afternoons aimed to translate constant practice into consistent field performance. The season opener for LaLiga is set for Monday, August 15, at 09:30, with Betis visiting the Benito Villamarín stadium.

In addition to the sessions, the team faced four friendlies to test their cohesion. They defeated Leganés 2-1, edged Getafe 1-0, beat Cartagena 2-0, and played Ibiza in a tight fixture that ended 2-0 in favor of Ibiza. These matches gave the coaching staff tangible data on how the squad adapts to different styles and intensities.

Raul Guti commented on the training block, noting that the group has absorbed the coach’s concepts after a heavy period of work. The team will take a day and a half to recover before resuming sessions on Thursday afternoon. The next test comes on Sunday, August 7 at 19:00 inside the Camilo Cano Olympic Stadium in La Nucía, where Elche will face a Primera RFEF side, Nuciero, in what will be the final tune-up before the league campaign begins.

An Alicante-based club source said the squad now has a clear window to recover their legs and consolidate the strategies prepared for the season’s opening match. The emphasis remains on maintaining high intensity in training while ensuring players arrive rested and ready to compete when the top division action starts.

The looming league start has the team focused on translating pre-season work into consistent performances. With preparations intensifying and tactical clarity improving, the coaches expect the squad to hit the ground running as the campaign kicks off. Even though the period has involved tough days, the mood in the group remains competitive and optimistic about the opportunities ahead.
