The president of Dynamo Makhachkala, Gadzhi Gadzhiev, stated that Russian defender Georgy Dzhikia will remain with the club if he does not sign a contract with a top‑level team. The leader’s remarks were reported by Match TV.

Gadzhiev added, “If Georgy wants, he will stay with us. I told him I would be waiting at the club, and he replied, ‘If I don’t move to a serious club, I will stay with you.’ Georgy shows depth in this decision. He remembers all the good things that have been done for him over the years.”

Dzhikia, now 30, has spent his career with Spartak Moscow since 2017, contributing to a league title and a Russian Cup victory with the club. The official announcement of his departure came on May 18. The following day, Dzhikia wore the captain’s armband and played 67 minutes in the 29th round fixture of the Russian Premier League against Rubin.

Earlier reports suggested that another option could be a move to a foreign league, with Wings of the Soviets in Samara mentioned as a potential destination that might appeal to the player.

Earlier, Dmitry Bulykin had offered observations on why Dzhikia had not yet joined a new club, highlighting the openness of the transfer window and the player’s ongoing deliberations about the next step in his career.
