Renowned Russian football manager Dmitry Selyuk confirmed that players he represents in the Russian Premier League continue to honor their contracts. The statement was shared by Vprognoze.

“Do you believe that will hold true? My players also contact Konata and ask whether a particular position should be paused or not. My players stay focused on the agreement and meet their obligations. Everyone remains committed to fulfilling the contract that gave them the chance to prove themselves and not let the club down”, Selyuk explained.

In 2022, FIFA granted foreign players in the Russian Premier League the option to suspend their contracts. A subsequent amendment dated May 22, 2023 extended the suspension period to June 30, 2024. This provision, however, applies only to foreigners who availed themselves of the right before March 7, 2022.

Beyond this, some Russian clubs encountered difficulties receiving payments for player transfers after certain players moved to European clubs.

A former Russian football player addressed why the decision was made to leave Turkey and return to Russia, noting the financial and professional considerations that influenced the move.
