Racing Club de Fútbol Benidorm has a new owner: David Villa. The transfer was accepted by the club’s board, currently led by chairman Jose Santiago Lopez, and DV7 Group, Villa’s ownership vehicle, will take full control of the organization. The formal announcement is planned for the Intempo building in Benidorm on Tuesday, March 28, signaling a new chapter for a club that has faced challenges in moving out of the Primera Regional and reclaiming a status it enjoyed before 2017.

David Villa is deeply involved in grassroots football, extending his training network to multiple academies around the world. Plans include academies in New York, Tokyo, San Diego, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Madrid. The development blueprint will be applied to CF Benidorm to bring the first team closer to professional levels, with a measured timeline and optimized investment to support sustainable growth.

Villa’s company intends to replicate the effective operating model that has driven success in his other football ventures, focusing on restructuring Benidorm’s academy setup. The club’s home stadium, William Love Stadium, holds a 9,000-spectator capacity and will be central to the club’s upgraded training and competitive plans.

The deal will be formally presented at noon on Tuesday, March 28, in one of the Intempo building’s rooms in the tourism hub of Benidorm.

The agreement received municipal approval, confirming local interest in the project. DV7 Group began shaping the strategy after David Villa’s initial approach to Benidorm in the summer. Villa, renowned for his achievements with Valencia, Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, and the Spanish national team, aims to rise the club into a professional fold within a market known for nurturing top young talent. This involves acquiring a federated club and integrating Villa’s proven approach to player development and club management.

Benidorm’s status as a popular international tourist destination, along with its facilities and favorable climate, made it an attractive location for Villa to oversee his first club in official competition. The current standings in Valencian Preferente Group 4 place Benidorm in fifth, trailing leaders Callosa Deportiva by 15 points. Although promotion remains unlikely this season, the club still has eight matches to influence the final table. DV7 Group has been among the growing investors expressing interest in acquiring control of Hercules, though no firm offer was made at this stage.
