Alexei Shved, a defender for the basketball club CSKA, was not intoxicated when he was confronted by a group of unidentified individuals, according to information provided by RIA Novosti citing a source familiar with the incident.
The source notes that Shved is a familiar face at the restaurant, where staff know him by sight. The confrontation happened around 11:15 p.m. and, according to the account, the player and his companions were seated in different sections of the venue. It is stated that Shved was not under the influence of alcohol at the time and did not participate in any reckless behavior that might have triggered the aggression.
Earlier, it was reported that the Swede and his party had spent the evening in a restaurant in central Moscow. As they were leaving, a dispute erupted between Shved’s group and another party on the sidewalk outside. According to witnesses, several individuals began attacking the basketball player, causing him to stumble and fall. Blood appeared from his ear, and staff members quickly intervened to shield him and seek medical assistance.
Medical personnel arrived at the scene and transported Shved to receive prompt care. The medical team evaluated his condition and provided treatment on site before continuing care as needed at a hospital facility. The episode led to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault and the identities of those involved are being established by authorities.
