The official Moscow PBC CSKA site confirms the departure of defenseman Will Barton.
The contract with Will Barton was terminated under one of the agreed conditions, and the basketball player has returned to the United States. The club stated that it will continue the search for a new player to wear numbers 2 or 3.
The 33-year-old defender’s agreement ended due to the specified condition, and it is noted that he is back in the USA.
Barton joined CSKA in January 2024, but did not appear in a single game for the Moscow team.
Throughout his career, Barton has spent 11 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He has defended the colors of the Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, and Toronto Raptors at different points in his career.
CSKA sits atop the VTB United League standings with 49 points from 27 games. Emil Raikovich’s squad is in contention for the title alongside Unix, Parma, Enisey, Zenit, and Lokomotiv-Kuban.
Earlier reports indicated that two players from the same club had a clash during a recent match. [citation attribution: Moscow PBC CSKA official site]
