The final that pits the two champions of each year in Colombia is in its twelfth edition.
Atlético Nacional and Deportivo Pereira will determine the 2023 Super League champions, in a duel that recalls the 2021 BetPlay Cup final, where the Verdolagas defeated Matecaña to lift their fifth cup.
The final, which year after year brings together the league winners from each season, returns at the start of the year, following calendar changes in the previous editions due to the pandemic.
So far nine teams have played it, with Santa Fe holding the most titles and Atlético Nacional appearing most often in its history.
EDITIONS
Archive
There have been twelve editions of the Super League since its creation in 2012 by decision of Dimayor. As champions of 2011, Atlético Nacional and Junior sparked the excitement that has been repeated every year since.
Medellín and Bogotá are the cities where finals have been won most often, four times each, although the capital city holds more titles overall.
Atlético Nacional vs. Deportivo Cali has been the most frequent final pairing — twice — with one title for each side. By the end of 2014, Deportivo Cali was classified as the top team in the reclassification since Atlético Nacional had won the league in 2013, and the rules were set accordingly.
Verde de Antioquia also holds multiple records: most finals played (six including 2023), most games played (ten), most points (nineteen), most games won (six), and most goals scored (sixteen); yet it has also added the most titles (three).
All editions have been decided over two legs, though for the 2020 edition between América and Junior, Dimayor attempted to make the final a single, neutral match in the United States, plans affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 2021 version, with only one champion in 2020, América de Cali faced a rival in the reclassification, with Independiente Santa Fe emerging on top in that table.
