City Council honors Elche Club de Fútbol with Gold Medal on 100th anniversary
Elche Football Club will receive the honor on Wednesday, beginning at 7 p.m., in a formal and solemn ceremony organized by the Town Hall and staged in the grand theater, City Gold Medal. This is the highest accolade the Elche City Council can bestow, recognizing the club as a key civic symbol and a pillar of the community. The award is presented by four institutions: the Kings of Spain, the Misteri d’Elx, the Local Police, and the National Police.
The Frangiverde foundation has also been recognized with this honor, marking a centennial season that celebrates one hundred years of existence and ongoing work in social cohesion and identity building within the municipality. The mayor, Carlos González, highlighted this achievement at the start of February, with Sports Councilor Vicente Alberola presenting the award to club president Joaquin Buitrago and Jorge Perez, the Marketing and Corporate Affairs Director, who had been selected to receive the award on behalf of the foundation.
Elche’s first mayor noted that over all this time Elche CF has managed to be everyone’s team, a source of pride for the community. It represents the city and stands as another emblem that characterizes Elche as a united community with a shared hope and dream.
