Former Russian national team footballer Alexander Mostovoy commented on Euro-Football.Ru that Denis Cheryshev, the Venetian midfielder, could bring value to the Russian Premier League (RPL).
“Cheryshev would certainly be useful in the RPL. The main obstacle is his persistent injury issues. That makes top-three clubs hesitant to take a risk. But a team outside the top three would eagerly welcome him,” Mostovoy stated, noting that injuries continue to shape transfer decisions.
According to him, Cheryshev possesses talent, quality, and class—attributes that place him above many players in the RPL. He suggested that every Russian club would be keen to have him in their squad if health allowed it.
In his most recent season in Serie B, Cheryshev registered 24 appearances, scoring four goals and recording two assists as Venezia finished in eighth place. The midfielder joined Venezia during the 2022 summer window and has previously played for Real Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia, and Villarreal.
Cheryshev’s contract with Venezia runs through June 2024, and he has earned 33 caps for Russia. It is noted that there is ongoing speculation about whether he will continue his career in Spain, according to industry sources.
