The Devils and the Sharks had their seventh-round match of the 2023 Colombian Championship postponed. The BetPlay League 2023 reached its seventh round, with several compelling fixtures featuring clubs aiming to seize early control of the standings and set the pace for the season.
One notable matchup on the schedule was the clash between America from Cali and Junior from Barranquilla, two historic Colombian clubs often expected to be title contenders given their storied legacies in the national game.
However, that anticipated showdown will not take place this weekend, as the game has been moved from its original slot during March 4 and 5, when most of the round was set to be played.
Why aren’t América and Junior playing this weekend?
The venue, the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali, would normally host the Rouge-and-White team, yet a series of cultural events at the same site disrupted the schedule. A scheduled Romeo Santos concert in the Valle del Cauca capital led Dimayor to relocate the BetPlay League match to a later date, now set for Thursday, March 23 at 8:10 PM local time.
Following that adjustment, the Devils are now set to face Santa Fe in the league, on the eighth round, next Tuesday, March 14 at 8:10 PM in Colombia, at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá.
Meanwhile, the Sharks’ next engagement is in the Copa Sudamericana against Deportes Tolima, set for Thursday, March 9 at the Murillo Toro stadium in Ibagué, with kickoff at 7:00 PM local time.
