Heads and tails of the Agustinos Foundation and EÓN Horneo Alicante on the eighth day of the Silver Honor League in men’s handball. The first one beat Zamora at home (30-21), while the second endured a tight loss against Guadalajara (33-32).

EON player Fischer was “surprised” by the call from the Argentine team

EON faced one of the promotion’s favorites. Each time a swing in the score seemed likely, attacking errors resurfaced. Fernando Latorre’s squad managed to steady the ship and entered the first half with a slim one-point edge (17-16). The opening minutes set a tense tone, with both teams trading blows and the tempo never quite settling into a clear rhythm.

After the break, EÓN Horneo Alicante surged forward, taking a temporary lead. Yet, as soon as momentum appeared to favor them, Guadalajara recalibrated, slowed the pace, and shifted play into their own zone. The visitors began to pull away, and Eón found it difficult to mount a response, remaining unable to close the gap on the scoreboard.

Despite the setback, the Alicante squad did not relent. They briefly moved one goal ahead with less than five minutes remaining, a sign of character in a tight contest. Guadalajara reacted swiftly, and the local goalkeeper made a decisive save on a seven-metre throw; that stop marked the turning point as EON still failed to find the rhythm needed to reclaim the lead.

With thirty seconds on the clock, EÓN had another chance on an aerial over, created by Alberto González. Yet the Guadalajarans stood firm, and the home keeper again thwarted the attempt. The visitors closed out the final moments with a narrow advantage, despite playing the last seconds at a numerical disadvantage.

Third victory of the Augustinians

For its part, the Agustinos Foundation collected its third win of the season at the cathedral venue, as BM Zamora defeated Enamora 31-20. Alejandro Carrillo’s squad seized control early and never allowed their opponents to close the gap, building a comfortable cushion as the game progressed.

The tricolor side asserted dominance over a team perched at the bottom of the standings, maintaining a clear lead for most of the match. Javier Carrión stood out again as Agustinos’ top scorer with five goals, his confidence growing with every minute of action as he contributed consistently to the tally.
