AtticGo Elche Handball Club Details Changes on the Left Wing and Gathers Momentum for 2023-2024 Season

The AtticGo Elche Handball Club announced changes on the left wing Celia Guilabert and Maria Carrillo, signaling a near-complete renewal for the 2023-2024 squad. The club remains focused on continuity and growth as it approaches the new campaign.

The team aims to replicate and surpass the success of the recently finished season. Finishing second in the Guerreras Iberdrola League, reaching the semi finals of the EHF European Cup, and advancing to the quarter finals of the Copa de la Reina, the club continues to emphasize its commitment to the local talent pool. It remains dedicated to developing players from the Alicante community and preserving its core identity centered on youth development and strong regional ties.

Joaquin Rocamora will continue to coach the team, guiding the green haired warriors who have become a fixture in the Spanish youth scene. The Rocamora leadership will rely on Alberto Zabalegui as assistant coach, Roger Olivas as physical trainer, Manu Ferrer as goalkeeping coach, and David Diez as the team doctor, all continuing to contribute to the program’s growth.

The AtticGo squad is expected to build on a successful season and maintain momentum. There have been fourteen renewals in total. Catalan goalkeeper Nicole Morales has extended her contract for two seasons, continuing to anchor the defense. Players Paola Bernabe from Torrevieja and Zaira Benitez from Elda remain pivotal, while Raquel More from Alicante and Lissa Oppedal from Torrevieja move on to new challenges on the left side and other positions.

In the central positions, Patricia Mendez from Elche and pivot Katia Zhukova from Elche reinforce the core. On the wings, Raquel More from Barcelona, Tessa Van Zijl from the Netherlands, and Celia Guilabert from Elche complement the attack, while Maria Carrillo from Alicante, Clara Gasco from The Wave, and Alexandra Do Nascimento from Brazil provide depth on the far right and across the court. The team is building toward another competitive run with a blend of local talent and international experience.

Danila So Delgado from Venteira Portugal signed last summer on a two-year contract, adding experience to the roster.

New faces for the upcoming season include veteran goalkeeper Marisol Carratú from Argentina joining Mecalia Atlético Guardes; 19 year old left back Kelly de Abreu Sosa from Brazil who stands out at Grafometal La Rioja; and 18 year old Noelia Plaice from Galicia who has been active in high level competitions. These additions bring depth and different playing styles to the squad.

The two team captains Maria Flores from Almansa and Nuria Andreu from Santa Pola remain central to the roster. Flores is expected to extend her commitment into another season while Andreu explores managerial opportunities and will decide whether to continue playing at the top level. Both are widely respected and grew up alongside the club, embodying its values and culture.

The right wing is expected to be staffed by Paula Agullo from Elche, a left-handed international youth player with a bright future, who has signed a contract extending through 2026.

From the roster changes, Elena Martinez, Angela Rodriguez, and Brazilian goalkeeper Pamela Rodrigues who played for KH-7 Granollers will no longer be part of the team due to retirement or transfer shifts. The squad will resume training and preseason activities after a short break, with preparations starting on July 31.
