Former Sevilla coach Dmitry Cheryshev weighed in on what Russian footballer Arsen Zakharyan should do to gain real attention in Spain. His comments were carried by RB Sports.
Cheryshev said Zakharyan arrived as a squad option and, while he had positive moments, he did not fade into the background or disappear from the action. To truly stand out, the young midfielder needs to integrate with the Real Sociedad side quickly and demonstrate his quality over a clear period, not just in a single match. Consistency will drive the conversation and raise expectations, he noted.
Real Sociedad settled for a goalless draw with Las Palmas on August 25, with Zakharyan coming on for Mohamed-Ali Shaw in the 75th minute as a substitute option.
Earlier, on August 19, Real Sociedad confirmed Zakharyan’s transfer from Dynamo Moscow. The contract extends through June 2029. Market analyses place the player’s value around 15 million euros. During the summer of 2023, three Dutch clubs showed interest in Zakharyan, and a year earlier his move to Chelsea did not materialize as hoped.
Spanish journalist Angel Lopez, formerly focused on Real Sociedad for Mundo Deportivo, expressed the belief that Arsen Zakharyan could be a good fit for the San Sebastian club, aligning with the team’s playing style and ambitions.
