Former Zenit mentor Vlastimil Petrzhela weighed in on the potential move of Russia’s Artem Dziuba to Galatasaray. Meta analyses follow.
Artur Dziuba, presently a free agent, has not yet locked in his next career step. Reports suggest Turkish clubs are showing interest in the veteran striker.
“Dziuba joining Galatasaray is unlikely. He brings experience, but his pace has slowed,” Petrzhela stated. “I don’t think Galatasaray will pursue him. Staying in Russia could be more practical for him; his name is well known there, and competing for a spot in Turkey would be tougher for him.”
The 33-year-old forward spent a substantial period with Zenit, the St. Petersburg team. Across his Zenit tenure, he appeared in 249 matches, netting 108 goals and providing 70 assists. He lifted a fourth championship with Zenit in the 2021/22 season.
On May 22, Dziuba bid farewell to Zenit as his contract reached its natural end and the club decided not to renew. The move marked the end of a significant chapter in his career with the St. Petersburg side.
Vladislav Radimov, who previously led Zenit-2, weighed which Russian Premier League club might better suit the striker if a transfer becomes reality.
