“I regret not pursuing a stint abroad at some point, but everyone chooses the route that fits their situation,” Tereshchenko stated. “There were invitations for a period, yet I decided to continue playing here. The advice from agents and the uncertainties tied to moving overseas influenced the decision. In the end, the fit with Russian clubs and the overall package seemed stronger.”
Tereshchenko emphasized that changes to pursue the NHL did not seem financially sensible for his agents or himself at the time. He acknowledged that he enjoyed favorable conditions in Russia, which factored heavily into his decision. The three-time world champion and five-time Russian champion is renowned for his stints with Ak Bars Kazan, Dinamo Moscow, Salavat Yulaev, and Avangard Omsk. He concluded his professional playing career after the 2019/20 season, during which he appeared in three games for the Omsk club as part of his final campaign.
