Scariolo: “Basketball has been a triumph as a team sport”

“A huge satisfaction for the championship level. Basketball has been generous to those who respect team sport values. Passing the ball, respecting roles, training hard, helping each other, having no egos. It was the triumph of basketball as a team sport and when that happens, a coach can’t be happier in terms of the game”, he evaluated after the game in Berlin.

The Brescia coach admitted that even in his most distant dream, his team “did not expect to win gold in a championship”. Teams with NBA stars, NBA MVPs and All Stars are left behind.”

“Let your team show their face and compete. I had no doubts about that. But We came in eighth in the championship’s ‘power ranking’ and became champions”, reflected.

Regarding the team’s success, he pointed out that there was a lot of work behind the win: “No part of the road should be taken lightly.. If you add a lot of small parts, it leads to success. But it is true that it was a success. People will tell you we’re a respectable team where people play together and have an idea and an identity.”
