Gigabyte graphic maps of the new GeForce and Radeon Linech started to report a defect more often – it squeezes the thermal fat that is used as the thermal conductive interface. The manufacturer previously recognized the presence of a problem in a limited number of models, but the situation, based on the assessments, turned out to be greater than expected.
We are talking about the Such Called Thermogele – a dense substance that is used between the components of the video card to improve the heat voltage. Video cards that are installed vertically, as the owners notice, usually suffer from draining this material to the connectors, including PCIE. In some cases it is close to open areas of memory or close to electric contacts.
Gigabyte states that an excess of Thermogel was only used in the early parties of the RTX 50th and Radeon RX 9000 series and that this has no influence on the operation of the devices. According to the company, the deviation is only visual and it is not a danger to the performance of accelerators. At the same time, the manufacturer refused to recall the already issued cards.
Nevertheless, new comments in the field of thematic forums, including Technpowerup, indicate a more systemic character of the problem. Some owners report that the “drops of the Thermogel” started to appear only a week after the purchase, despite the standard operation and moderate taxes. For many of them, maps are installed vertically.
Photos published by enthusiasts show how the material follows the boundaries of the cooling system, exposes the elements and gradually moving under his own weight. Although it has not been reported so far about the failure of video cards for this reason, the potential risks of overheating or short circuit are concerned about the owners of expensive models.
Users are currently left to check the condition of their devices – especially if they bought a video card immediately after the release and installed vertically. As the practice shows, even a small amount of the leaked thermogel can be a risk factor in the long term.
😊 In Russia they offer to release their “correct anime” – without blood, violence and cruelty
