Steam April statistics showed that users are increasingly switching to a new generation from Nvidia. For the first time in the report, the RTX 5070 and 5070 TI models are already the same as the popularity with RTX 5080 – each of these cards covers approximately 0.38% of the share. At the same time, the RTX 3060, which until recently was the leader with a result above 5%, now lost its position on more new solutions.
Interestingly, mobile versions of video cards continue to dominate: RTX 4060 for laptopes (almost 5%) bypassed its desktop version, although the situation was opposite in February. This confirms the trend for the growth of gaming laptops under the steam audience.
The situation is less rainbow from AMD. The newest RX 9000 models, including RX 9070 and 9070 XT, are not noticed in statistics – their share is apparently not too small to step into the list. The first AMD video card for PC in the report was the RX 6600, but the popularity is no more than 1%. The only newcomer of the “Reds” was the RX 7800 XT with 0.27%, which is comparable to RTX 5070 TI.
Experts associate the LAG AMD with various factors: a later output of new models, a high selling price and a traditional slope from the Steam public to Nvidia Solutions. The latter retains leadership with a share of 74.4%, while AMD fights for the attention of users and offers budget options.
Separately, the report has an increase in Windows 11 – OS has been established by 58% of the survey participants, which confirms the gradual refusal of Windows 10. However, the most important gaming trends remain unchanged: most users opt for graphic cards with a middle class, where the balance of price and performance is more important than top characteristics.
