The application was launched for a long time in 2013 as a platform for managing game performance and profiles. Since a few months, however, it has not received any updates and the functions were transferred to the Play Store. For example, users can now follow the progress of the game and view profiles directly via an application store. According to sources, they will also add the opportunity to edit the profile in the near future and subscribe to other players.
Such steps indicate that a separate play game application cannot be necessary. There is no official confirmation yet, but the practice of Google speaks for itself: only in 2024 did the company charge more than five services, including podcasts, VPNs and Chromecast devices. The “archive” of Google also contains Nexus Scartphones and the Stadia service.
Interesting is that the pee version for PC, launched in 2022, is not influenced by changes. It remains in beta mode, so that you can start mobile games on Windows, which is especially relevant after folding a similar solution from Microsoft. If the transition of functions is completed, Play Games will supplement a list of abolished projects for Android. Experts do not exclude the fact that the company will continue to ‘clean’ the services in 2025, so that only those who correspond to the current strategic purposes will be left behind.
