How does the draw work?

The draw consists of 32 teams: 26 teams with direct access to the group stage and six winners of the playoffs.

Teams will be divided into four qualifying groups. pot 1 will consist of the last champion, UEFA Europa League champion Y champions of the top six federations Those who do not qualify for one of the 2021/22 titles. Pots 2 to 4 will be determined by club coefficient ranking.

In federations with two or more representatives, clubs will be paired to split their matches between Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In federations with four representatives, two matches will be made. These matches will be made based on television ratings.

No team may play against a team from its own federation. Other restrictions will be announced before the draw.

What happens next?

Matches will be confirmed after the group stage draw will take place over an eight-week period this fall due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
