Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted that he was upset about the entire match after losing to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final. His words are quoted by the publication LIKE.
“We need to face the truth. We defended badly, the opponent scored easily. We showed a bad performance both as a team and individually. This makes us sad. <...> It was bad from the first minute to the last minute of the match. “We remained in the majority, but we could not create anything,” he said.
The match took place at the King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah and ended with a score of 5:2.
At the end of the first 45 minutes, the score was 4:1 in favor of Barcelona. Lamin Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Rafinha and Alex Balde scored one goal each for Blaugrana. The only goal of the Madrid team came from French striker Kylian Mbappe.
The teams exchanged goals in the second half – Rodrigo responded to Raphinha’s accurate shot with a free kick. Barcelona remained in the minority from the 56th minute; Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off from the game for a foul on Kylian Mbappe.
