The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs presented a passport to Brazilian Zenit football player Douglas Santos, who received Russian citizenship. This was reported by TASS.
Douglas Santos has been with St. Petersburg since the summer of 2019. He plays for the St. Petersburg club. After his transfer, he signed a 5-year contract. In 2016, as a member of the Brazilian national team, the defender won the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Zenit has another Brazilian player who received a Russian passport: Claudinho. Brazilian Malcom also received Russian citizenship, but from Zenit he moved to the Saudi club Al-Hilal.
Zenit is in second place in the Russian Premier League (RPL) rankings with 29 points. The leader of the championship is Krasnodar, who defeated Moscow Spartak away with a score of 3-0.
In the next match of the Russian championship, Zenit will play against Moscow Lokomotiv.
