Former Spartak forward Valery Kechinov urged not to remember the forward Alexander Sobolev, who moved to Zenit St. Petersburg. His words are guiding “Soviet sport”.
“After Sobolev left, Spartak’s attack became different and interesting. Interesting interactions. Why remember Sobolev? No need. This is a different attack that many people liked,” said Kechinov.
The 27-year-old forward was transferred from Spartak to Zenit in the summer transfer window, where he was removed from the team after the first round against Orenburg (0:2). The blue-white-blue paid about 10 million euros for the transfer of the forward from the Russian national team. Sobolev played two official matches for Zenit and made an assist in the Russian Cup match against Rubin (3:0).
On September 17, Zenit won against Rubin in the fourth round of the Russian Cup group stage with a score of 2:0. Zenit maintains their lead in Group D of the Russian Cup; they currently have ten points after four matches.
