Nikita Saltykov, the new player of Lokomotiv Moscow, needs time to adapt to the team. This is an opinion in a comment to the portal Legal betting – stated by Vladimir Kuzmichev, former director of the “railway workers” academy.
“Let’s hope Saltykov just needs time. He definitely knows how to play football. I don’t think Saltykov caught a “star” last season. Young Player of the Season is not a recognition that will catch him. It’s a matter of adaptation.
Theoretically, maybe Saltykov was wrong about the transition. But Lokomotiv plays interesting football, they have a young attacking group. Football is similar to “Wings”. I think Lokomotiv football does not suit him. Competition generates quality; no one promised that the transition would be smooth,” Kuzmichev said.
Saltykov was named the best young player in the Russian Premier League (RPL) for the 2023/24 season. The player, who transferred from Krylya Sovetov to Lokomotiv in the summer of 2024, has played only 183 minutes in all competitions with his new team since then, and has not scored a goal. Kuzmichev said that things are not going well for the player so far. The expert also emphasized that Saltykov is a quality player.
According to the expert, the fact that Saltykov found himself in such a situation means that the player’s athletic character must show itself. And whether he can win the competition of his teammates depends only on him. Kuzmichev admitted that if this does not happen, the football player will have to go to a less ambitious team and start over.
