A Russian woman is suspected of robbing the apartment of an 88-year-old resident of the Moscow region. M reports thisVD Media.

According to law enforcement, the pensioner allegedly received a call from an employee of a state organization telling him about innovations regarding banknotes.

“The foreigner talked about carrying out some kind of currency reform, in which it would be necessary to replace old-style banknotes with new ones,” the ministry said.

After a while, a 28-year-old Russian woman approached the woman and introduced herself as a social worker. She allowed the Muscovite to fill out the paperwork and while the victim was signing the papers, she went to another room and stole 1.7 million rubles.

The “social worker” managed to escape, but was quickly detained. The suspect turned out to be a resident of the Rostov region. A criminal case was opened in connection with the incident. The Rostov resident is currently in custody.

The ministry is conducting an investigation. Inspectors are identifying accomplices.
