“Mario is a young player and wants to work with more experienced partners. We believe that he will get this opportunity in Saudi Arabia. He also received very little playing time at Lokomotiv, which does not help his development,” Mitai Sr. said.
Mitai became a Lokomotiv player by signing a five-year contract in the summer of 2022. The Albanian was born in Greece and graduated from his first professional club, the local AEK. Mitai has 16 caps for the Albanian national team.
The football player, who played in all three matches of the 2024 European Championship group stage as part of the Albanian national team, took to the field from the first minutes.
On September 3, it was learned that Lokomotiv loaned 21-year-old Mitai to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad until the end of the 2024/25 season, with an option to purchase.
