American Noah Lyles wins 100-meter race at Paris Olympics 01:57

American athlete Noah Lyles won the 100-meter sprint final at the Paris Olympics, beating his opponent by five thousandths of a second. This was reported by TASS.

Jamaicans Lyles and Kishane Thompson also did the same in the race. The judges had to use a photo finish to decide the Olympic winner. Lyles was just five thousandths of a second ahead of his rival with a time of 9.784 seconds. American Fred Curley came in third, running the 100 meters in 9.81 seconds.

Lyles, 27, is a six-time world champion and finished third in the 200 meters at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The current world record for the 100 metres is held by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, with a time of 9.58 seconds.
