Belgian triathlete Claire Michel hospitalised after swimming in the Seine at the Paris Olympics Standard.
The athlete has been in the hospital since July 31. He was diagnosed with E. coli.
Michelle finished 38th in the individual competition but will not be able to compete in the mixed relay on Monday. The Belgian team will be forced to withdraw from the competition.
On July 28 and 29, Olympic organizers cancelled triathletes’ training swims in the Seine River due to deteriorating water quality following heavy rains.
It was learned that the triathlon competition that was supposed to be held on July 30 was postponed by one day. The official account of the International Triathlon Union (World Triathlon) on the social network X page announced that the entire triathlon will be held on July 31. Both men’s and women’s triathlons were held on this day.
The Olympic Games began on July 26, with competitions continuing until August 11.
