Sevastyanova is the 2012 Olympic champion in the all-around group in rhythmic gymnastics and the champion of the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. The gymnast completed her sports career at the age of 17.
In 2014, it was reported that Sevastyanova was dating Alexander Ovechkin, a Russian forward for the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals. The couple had been in a relationship for a year.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced in July that athletes from Russia and Belarus would be allowed to compete under the organization’s auspices with neutral status from January 1, 2024.
