The player also noted that Russian hockey players have won many more trophies than football players at the national team level.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. The organization decided to admit Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympic Games as neutral athletes at the end of 2023. To participate, they must meet a number of requirements and be qualified.
Russian football and hockey teams are not currently competing in official competitions.
