Moscow Spartak General Manager Oleg Malyshev said that coach Vladimir Slishkovich did not leave the club because of money “RB Sports”.
“Actually, it wasn’t a money issue. We wanted him to stay. At first Vladimir seemed to agree, then he said that he wanted to work as a head coach. “We have not created any obstacles,” Malyshev said.
Slishkovic was on the technical staff of Muscovites’ former coach Guillermo Abascal. After the Spaniard was sacked, he replaced him as caretaker and under Sliskovic, Spartak completed a series of matches without defeat. The red-whites finished the season in fifth place in the Russian Championship, collecting 50 points. Dejan Stankovic will be the coach of the team from next season.
The fate of the championship in the Russian Premier League was decided in the final round. Zenit, Dynamo Moscow and Krasnodar, who faced each other in the 30th round, won the championship. Zenit became the national champion, defeating Rostov 2:1 in the final round (57 points). The Bulls became the second, defeating Dynamo 1:0.
Previously Sliskovich compared “Spartak” with one stone.
