Russian-born mixed martial arts athlete Khamzat Chimaev, who represents the UAE, may end his career in the near future. Such an assumption in an interview “Match TV” said Kamil Gadzhiev, head of promotions for AMC Fight Nights.
“Khamzat’s career in the UFC got off to a flying start. Everything seems to be going through the roof now. He was seriously ill with Covid. Remember, he was putting out fights every month and was the most active fighter in the UFC. And one day he almost stopped fighting. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear he’s retiring from MMA in a few days. It seems like Covid is making itself felt, MMA seems to have faded into the background,” says Gadzhiev.
Chimaev withdrew from the fight against Australian Whittaker at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in Saudi Arabia. It was reported that he had health problems and was hospitalized. Russian fighter Ikram Aliskerov will take his place in the octagon.
Gadzhiev also did not rule out that Chimaev’s decision to end his career could be influenced by the lack of an American visa, which he could not obtain. The organizer reminded that the big fights took place in the USA.
Previously MMA fighter Vitaly Minakov statedNobody needs Russians in the USA.
