In an interview with socialbites.ca, the former coach of Dynamo Moscow and Spartak Valery Gladilin said that he felt sorry for Baltika Kaliningrad, which could not maintain its registration in the Russian Premier League (RPL).
According to him, the most important period for the Baltic team was the first part of the championship, when the team could not gain many points.
“Of course it is sad for Baltika, who performed well in the second half of the championship and reached the final of the Russian Cup and played well. “However, it turned out that the developments in the first part of the championship did not work and the team was relegated to the First League,” he said.
At the end of the season, Baltika collected 26 points and ranked 15th. On June 2, Sergei Ignashevich’s team from Luzhniki will play against Zenit in the final of the Russian Cup.
In the final match of the 2023/24 season, Zenit, led by Sergei Semak, won its sixth consecutive championship by beating Rostov 2-1. The team collected 57 points. Before this, all teams that won the tournament received more points.
In second place was Krasnodar, which beat Dynamo Moscow with a score of 1-0. The teams were equal on points – 56, the Krasnodar club was higher in the standings due to head-to-head matches, and the Bulls defeated their rivals twice in the RPL season.
Previously at Zenit statedHe said that they fought against the referees all season long.
