St. Petersburg Zenit extended the contract with the team’s head coach Sergei Semak for five years. This was reported by press service blue-white-blue.
After the completion of the 30th round match of the Russian Premier League (RPL) with Rostov, a new contract was signed at the Gazprom Arena, the agreement lasts for five years until the end of the 2029/2030 season.
Semak’s Zenit team is a dynasty team, its technical staff and many of its players started with Semak and entered a difficult but successful path. “Under the leadership of the head coach, a qualitative breakthrough has been achieved at Zenit and a historic contribution has been made to the results achieved by the team in the last five years,” the club said in the statement.
Zenit beat Rostov with a score of 2:1 and won the Russian championship for the sixth time in a row. The team collected 57 points. St. Petersburg club will also compete for the Russian Cup in the 2023/24 season and will play against Baltika Kaliningrad in the final.
In second place in the RPL was Krasnodar, who beat Dinamo Moscow with a score of 1:0. The points of the teams were equal – 56, the Krasnodar club rose higher in the rankings due to head-to-head matches, in the Russian Premier League season the “bulls” beat their opponents twice – the first round match ended with a victory 3:1.
