Russian Football Union (RFU) President Alexander Dyukov evaluated the situation regarding the arrest of Moscow’s Dutch striker “Spartak” Quincy Promes and shared his thoughts on his future in the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words guide the way “RB Sports”.
“The situation needs to be resolved by the club and it also needs to make a decision. There is a court decision – if he has committed a crime, he should be punished in whatever region and he should not play for the RPL club. But there is no final court decision yet. Dyukov said: “Whether he really committed this crime or not “It’s hard for me to say,” he said.
The football player had an accident in Dubai in January 2024, after which he flew to Russia, but after a while he returned to the UAE again, this time to hold a training camp with the Moscow team. Unable to fly to Russia with the club, he was detained at the airport and placed under house arrest. On March 13, Promes was arrested, and the actor is being held in one of the cells of a large prison complex located near Dubai airport.
The Dutch prosecutor’s office plans to request the extradition of the football player.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes to six years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The hearing of the case was held on January 24, and the prosecutor’s office requested that Promesa be sentenced to 9 years in prison. The Dutchman was placed on the international wanted list on 16 February. He is also sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for attacking his cousin with a knife during a family party.
