Ovechkin’s double gives Washington victory over Winnipeg 22:12

Washington Capitals defeated the Winnipeg Jets in the regular season match of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The meeting, which took place at the Capital One Arena stadium in Washington, ended with the capital’s score of 3:0. John Carlson opened the scoring, followed by a double from Russian forward and Washington captain Alexander Ovechkin, who scored in the 44th and 53rd minutes of the match.

Ovechkin’s first goal was initially attributed to his teammate, forward Connor McMichael, due to the hockey players shooting the puck at the same time, but was later attributed to the Russian player.

Ovechkin scored 26 goals in 67 regular season games this season. He also made 32 assists.

The Russian forward continues to break Canada’s Wayne Gretzky’s sniping record. The Canadian hockey player scored 894 goals during his NHL career and tops the list of the best snipers in league history. Ovechkin sits second, 46 goals behind Gretzky; The Russian player currently has 848 goals.
