On March 19, St. SKA in St. Petersburg hosted Avtomobilist in the Gagarin Cup quarter-final match and lost with a score of 1:3.
The guest team opened the scoring at the beginning of the second period by playing in the minority. The goal was scored by Alexey Byvaltsev. Stefan Da Costa doubled the visitors’ lead at half-time.
Vasily Glotov managed to get a goal back at the start of the final period and Stepan Khripunov set up the final score with five minutes left in the game.
After this match, the score in the series was 2-0 in favor of Avtomobilist. The next match between these teams will be played in Yekaterinburg on March 21.
In the other quarter-final matches, Lokomotiv is ahead 2-0 in the series with Avangard Omsk. In the previous match, the Yaroslavl team defeated its opponent with a score of 7-0. While Dinamo Moscow lost 0:2 in the series with Traktor, Spartak lost in the series with Metallurg.
The current winner of the Gagarin Cup is CSKA. On the 100th anniversary of its establishment on April 29, 2023, the Ordu team won the seventh match of the final series against Ak Bars Kazan and won the cup. CSKA and Ak Bars will no longer be able to compete for the cup this season.
