Daniel Osvaldo (Lanus, Argentina, 1986) has never been a typical football player. It was difficult for him to keep track of the players’ professional dynamics. He dreamed of starting a rock band (something he succeeded in, Barrio Viejo). And being able to smoke in peace without anyone having to accuse him of anything. He had perhaps his best spell as a player at Espanyol (20 goals in 45 games between 2009 and 2011) and this luck continued at Roma. But Osvaldo, who loved the counterculture label, knew he was surrounded by demons. After retiring from football as a Banfield player in the midst of Covid in 2020, where he played just two games, the striker began his downhill climb. His love life has filled the media spaces and this Monday Osvaldo himself released a video in which he admitted that he suffers from depression and has a serious drug problem.
Tax services Sports Osvaldo’s dramatic confession: “I fell into very ugly addictions. My depression is getting bigger and bigger. Life is getting out of control.”
