Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova doubts that Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will be able to participate in the ice show in China. He shared his opinion with him “Sports Express”.
“I am positive about this news. But I doubt it will happen. I think we are unlikely to see him in foreign TV series as long as he is under sanctions,” said Tarasova.
Valieva said she will participate in an ice show still under development in China at the World Youth Festival on March 4. The athlete also stated that he will play a leading role in this.
In January 2024, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified Kamila Valieva for anti-doping rule violations. The skater was suspended for four years, effective from December 2021, and was stripped of all awards won during that period.
On February 7, CAS published its reasoning. The Russian side claimed that the banned substance entered Valieva’s body as a result of eating the dessert prepared by her grandfather.
After the disqualification, the International Skating Union (ISU) awarded the Russians third place in the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games, without depriving Russia as a whole of the medal. Gold went to the US team and silver went to the Japanese team.
Previously Tutberidze said About Valieva’s problems.
