Vladimir Ponomarev, former defender of CSKA Moscow and the USSR national team, said in an interview with socialbites.ca that Moscow Spartak will play against Zenit St. Petersburg due to the absence of Dutch forward Quincy Promes. He said that he could not impose a struggle on St. Petersburg.
According to him, the Dutch striker was an important creative link in the team led by Guillermo Abasakl, and without him it would be difficult to count on a positive result for the Muscovites.
“An unpleasant situation is happening with Promes, he stayed in Dubai, so Spartak’s mood will not be very good – he is a great player, but a lazy person who always needs to be beaten with a baton. He is very interesting, promising, works masterfully with the ball, sees the field well – without him it will be very difficult for Spartak. Before this situation, it seemed to me that Spartak would impose a fight against Zenit, now I highly doubt it. There will be no one to take over the game. “It would be great if Spartak gets the draw,” Ponomarev said.
Due to his arrest, Promes was unable to fly to Moscow with the team and was scheduled to play against Zenit in St. Petersburg on Saturday, March 2. He will definitely miss the match in St. Petersburg. Zenit-Spartak match will be played at Gazprom Arena stadium. The starting whistle will blow at 19:30 Moscow time.
Former coach of the Russian national team Boris Ignatiev in the name Spartak players should not think about Quincy Promes.
