Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court initiated the arrest in absentia of former Russian national team football player and current blogger Evgeny Savin. This has been reported official website of the court.
Savin is accused of public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (AF) (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Part 1). On February 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put him on the wanted list.
Evgeniy Savin had previously published a video with Ukrainian football players on his YouTube channel. In this issue, Andrei Yarmolenko, Dario Srna, Andrei Voronin, Vitaly Mikolenko and Alexander Aliev explained their views on Russia’s special operation. Shortly after that, Savin’s club “Krasava” was banned from training in Krasnogorsk, after which he decided to leave Russian territory.
He moved to Cyprus and entered the second league of the local championship with the team of the same name.
Even then, he was accused of public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). It later became clear that the court fined Savin 50 thousand rubles.
