Court accepts four objections against redistribution of medals at 2022 Olympics

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered four appeals from skaters following the redistribution of medals in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games team event. This was reported by press service organizations.

The court noted three objections filed by Russian representatives, and another objection was sent by the Canadian team.

In January 2024, CAS disqualified Kamila Valieva, who was on the national team at the tournament, for an anti-doping rule violation. The skater was suspended for four years, effective from December 2021, and was stripped of all awards won during that period.

After the disqualification, the International Skating Union (ISU) awarded the Russians third place in the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games, without depriving Russia as a whole of the medal. Gold went to the US team and silver went to the Japanese team.
