American tennis player Andy Roddick admitted on his social networks that he was robbed by a police officer during a tournament held in Russia in 2006.
“In 2006, I was robbed by a police officer on the street in Russia, we came there to play in the Davis Cup. He just came and asked: How much money do you have? I said there was 300 dollars… He just replied: Give it to me, otherwise you will go to jail. I gave it to him and he went his way. There is no emotion. Business. Let’s not go to the level of normalizing crazy nonsense. It shouldn’t be this way. I will never go back,” Roddick wrote.
Roddick won the US Open in 2003. The American is the winner of 36 ATP tournaments (32 in singles) and the Davis Cup (2007) as part of the US national team.
Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to lead the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) rankings (9855 points). Spanish Carlos Alcaraz ranks second with 9255 points. Daniil Medvedev (8765 points) is in the top three. Fifth is Andrey Rublev (5050 points).
