President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov spoke about the return of Russian athletes to the international arena. His words are quoted RIA News.
“The projects implemented by Primorsky Krai are very important sports events. “Children of Asia” was a huge success and became the standard for such sporting events. Russia’s return to international competitions will take place through Asia and Asian regions. Secondly, the return of Russian sports will occur through children’s and youth sports,” Pozdnyakov said.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
In order to participate in the Paris Games in 2023, Russian athletes will have to sign updated terms of participation that include a commitment to respect the Olympic Charter, including the “peaceful mission of the Olympic movement”, the organization said. Russian athletes who rank well in their own disciplines will be allowed to compete.
