Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk criticized the press service of the US Open on her social networks after the organizers published the results of her match against Russian Maria Timofeeva at the Australian Open and placed the Russian flag.

“The Russian flag was published on the official resource of one of the largest tennis tournaments in the world. I call on media representatives, officials and the sports community to “stop using the tennis court to promote the Russian world,” Kostyuk said.

In a head-to-head match, Kostyuk defeated Timofeeva with scores of 6:2 and 6:1. The Ukrainian player has reached the quarter-finals, where she will face Cori Gauff from the USA.

Only one Russian remained at the tournament in Melbourne – Anna Kalinskaya. She will play with Yasmine Paolini (Italy).

In the updated WTA Women’s Tennis Association rankings, Noskova is ranked 50th. Polish representative Iga Swiatek continues to lead. While Belarus representative Arina Sabalenko took the second place, Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan closed the top three. The best Russian woman is Daria Kasatkina (13th place).

Previously Ukraine’s first racket refused to continue the match Against Noskova at the Australian Open.
