Figure skater Margarita Bazylyuk, who trains with Russia’s honored coach Eteri Tutberidze, showed a unique performance at the national jumping championship held in Moscow.
12-year-old Bazylyuk jumped by jumping two quadruple Salchows from an oiler. The referees did not evaluate the element because it was held after the end of the competition section in which the athlete won. Video of the jump is available at: telegram channel “Okko Figure Skating”
Before this, no women had ever completed two quadruple jumps in a row. However, since the Russian Jumping Championship is an exhibition tournament, the success will not be officially counted.
In the tournament, 16-year-old Adelia Petrosyan took second place (57.89) and 12-year-old Elena Kostyleva took third place (54.69).
On January 21, a team tournament will be held at the Russian Jumping Championships.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that domestic and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
For this reason, the International Skating Union (ISU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions. In the 2022/23 season, they focused on domestic competitions (Russian Grand Prix stages and the national championship). At the ISU meeting held in October, the issue of Russia’s return was discussed.
Previously Russian figure skater said about pregnancy.
